Language

The national language in Tanzania is Swahili, however English is also widely spoken and taught in House of Learning (The Q.T.C). In fact Swahili means “people of the coast” in Arabic. The Swahili language originates is basically for Bantu (Africa) origin. It has borrowed words from other languages such as Arabic probably as a result of the Swahili people using the Quaran. The word “Swahili” was used by early Arab visitors and it means the “coast”. Ultimately it came to be applied to the people and the language.
